THE WILLIAM AND BETTY LESTER SOCIETYEvery Jewish generation has an obligation to look ahead while serving the present. The blessings we enjoy today are in part a direct result of the forethought, work and accomplishments of those who preceded us. Therefore, our philanthropy must always keep an eye toward the future. With such a vision in mind, William (z’’l) and Betty (z’’l) Lester established the Lester Society in 1993. The Society seeks to perpetuate the community’s support of the UJA Annual Campaign of UJC MetroWest through commitments of $100,000 or more. William Lester died in 2005, leaving UJC MetroWest its first multi-million dollar endowment to support the UJA Annual Campaign in perpetuity. At present, the Lester Society is composed of nearly 300 individuals and couples whose commitments total nearly $100 million. Last year these commitments yielded over $800,000 for the UJA Annual Campaign of UJC MetroWest. View the Lester Society Honor Roll. Membership in the Lester Society requires a commitment of $100,000 for individuals or couples. A couple preferring recognition as members of both the Lester Society and as a Lion of Judah Endowment (LOJE) requires a commitment of $200,000.
Ultimately, Lester and LOJE commitments will help feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, educate the young and comfort the old. Through these commitments, we are securing the future of the MetroWest Jewish community as well as support for Israel and vital causes throughout the world.
