Description: 

The Intern will work as member of the Community Relations Committee (CRC) team which is responsible for the public policy and public affairs work of the organization. The Internship will assist in the implementation of two CRC projects including Jewish Women’s Involvement in the Political Process and the activation of the Social Action Network. 
 
Specific Duties Include:

  • Jewish Women’s Involvement in the Political Process
  • Collect data from municipalities around the state to identify and contact Jewish women elected officials.
  • Work in collaboration with the Center for American Women in Politics and steering committee to organize a Feb. 11, 2008 Roundtable meeting for Jewish women elected officials in New Jersey.
  • Produce and distribute invitations to invitees
  • Identify and organize dynamic panelists and agenda for roundtable meeting
  • Collect case-studies/personal histories of identified officials and in preparation of background materials.
  • Assist in preparing the Conference room and making sure all the logistics are ready and go as planned.
  • Assist in compiling report of meeting including a directory of participants.
  • Take the lead in organizing a Community Forum on April 8th in collaboration with the Steering Committee.
  • Identify panelists and organize panel.
  • Prepare promotional and background material as needed.  Provide information for CRC’s web page.

Social Action Network

  • Organize initial meeting of Social Action Chairs (SAC) – prepare invitations and agenda and ensure all the logistics are prepared and meeting goes as planned.
  • Maintain database of SACs
  • Work with SAC on follow-up initiatives that are identified in the meeting
  • Liaise with Young Leadership Social Action Chairs
  • Work with Webmaster to ensure SAC related information is updated and current.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and strong interest in issue organizing/public affairs
  • High level of computer savvy and comfort
  • Excellent writing skills
  • College undergraduate or graduate student
  • Background in Public Policy/Women’s Studies/Political Science/Judaic Studies
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strategic thinker and good organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work 15-25 hours per week

Salary Range: unpaid
