  • Program for seniors expanding to Verona
    She may not always remember names, but 85-year-old Rhoda Kagan says it’s a nice feeling when she bumps into someone from her senior fitness class on the street. The class, offered at the Grover Cleveland Senior Center in Caldwell for a nominal fee, is among several activities either started or supported by LIVE — Lifelong Involvement for Vital Elders — to help older adults become more engaged and less isolated. Run by United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ, the program is now expanding to nearby Verona.

  • Group presents Spring Fling in support of United Jewish Appeal
    On April 15, the next generation of the MetroWest Jewish community came together in support of United Jewish Appeal at its annual Spring Fling. The event, which was presented by the Young Leadership Division, or YLD, and Young Women's Campaign of United Jewish Communities, or UJC, of MetroWest, took place at Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township.

  • Montclair synagogue members to host Israeli teens
    Though they reside across the world from one another, adolescents in Montclair could soon discover they have much in common with their counterparts in Israel. A delegation of 22 high school students from Ra’anana, Israel, northeast of Tel Aviv, will visit Montclair next week. The itinerary includes a visit to Montclair High School.

  • U.S.-Israeli Basketball Program Helps Those Less Fortunate
    A joint U.S.-Israeli basketball initiative has been helping sick and underprivileged Israeli kids realize their hoop dreams. Haifa Hoops for Kids is a joint project between the Maccabi Haifa professional basketball team of the Israel Super League and United Jewish Communities of MetroWest New Jersey. Its mission is help lift the hearts of those far less fortunate.
