JESPY House Scholarships
JESPY House provides programs and resources for people with special needs – people like Andrea, Tom, and Jeff, all JESPY clients with severe learning and/or developmental disabilities who are unable to work full time. All three attend a structured program of health-oriented workshops, anger management, vocational training, and exercise groups, as well as art and music therapy and recreational activities. Without structure to their day, clients like Andrea, Tom, and Jeff regress emotionally, become socially isolated, and resort to watching TV and eating.
Many clients like Andrea, Tom, and Jeff are financially unable to pay the tuition of $455 to $2,957 per month needed for their care. Some supplement their tuition with SSI and/or income from part-time employment. Since the establishment of the program in 1972, JESPY’s policy has been to provide financial assistance to families who are unable to pay the full fee rather than refuse to serve a potential client who may benefit from the program. Approximately $60,000 is now disbursed annually to 20 clients whose families cannot afford full tuition.
Your endowment of $1,500,000 will create a scholarship fund that will enable JESPY to continue and expand its provision of scholarships to the families of people with special needs who need tuition support.
A gift of $60,000 will underwrite scholarships for existing students for one year. Your contribution of $6,000 or more will underwrite the program for one student for a year.
