Spotlight on our Partnership Agencies: Special Needs Services

Every few weeks, United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ features a different MetroWest agency or agencies to showcase how they meet needs within the MetroWest Jewish community as part of our "Spotlight on our Partnership Agencies." The next spotlight shines on the agencies that focus on children and adults with special needs.

It is thanks to the support of hundreds of generous donors who make contributions to the United Jewish Appeal of MetroWest NJ -- the fundraising arm of UJC -- that makes it possible for UJC to support our many beneficiary agencies.

It's not easy being special, a word now widely applied to people requiring special aid, to manage what less special people do with ease. Specialness today refers to children with particular needs and limitations; learning-disabled persons of all ages; and adults with developmental disabilities. The families of special-needs children and adults are special too in that they have a harder job of giving or providing care to their special loved ones.

Three UJC beneficiary agencies,
The Friendship Circle, JESPY House, and Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled of MetroWest, cater to special children and adults and their families with a profound understanding of the complex spectrum of needs involved, resourcefulness of a the highest caliber, and humility in the presence of individuals and families too special for an easy time of life.
