Hanukkah is a happy, hopeful time. We start off by lighting just one candle (with the shamesh, the leader) and end with eight glowing candles. A new year also brings hope — the promise of new beginnings. Now, we can reaffirm the resolutions we made at Rosh Hashana — perhaps even add some new ones.
