In the belief that strong leadership is the most effective means of ensuring the advancement of the Ethiopian immigrant community, Aleh seeks to empower members of the community to become leaders who will help ensure their fellow immigrants’ complete integration into Israeli society.
Once trained, these leaders take on the challenge of tackling the various difficulties that members of the Ethiopian community face, whether by personally dealing with specific problems, or by representing the group in local community forums.
Volunteer activism is fostered by encouraging members of the Ethiopian community to assume responsibility at the local level in class committees, school committees, house committees and neighborhood councils. The program organizes a number of activities to ensure that the emerging leaders acquire the knowledge, information and skills they need to be able to shape their community’s future.
