Studies show that one of the best ways to integrate Ethiopian youth in Israel is by focusing on their connection to the land, nature, and environment. The Society for Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI) runs several groups for Ethiopian youngsters who study, hike, and explore the country together. The program involves parents as well and enables the Ethiopian youth to integrate much better. UJC MetroWest supports such a group in Ofakim its ongoing activities as well as a special connection that was created between this group and the Neshama students from Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union. They hike together with the Ethiopian group in Israel and share experiences.
