Tlalim: Israeli School for Bedridden Children

Raz, age 11, was paralyzed in a car accident in 2003. In constant need of a ventilator and medical treatments, he is unable to attend school. Despite this, Raz has access to an education, studying at home with Tlalim and eTlalim teachers. With help from a Tlalim volunteer, he is preparing a movie on The rights of the sick child to learn.

Today Erin is a strong, healthy soldier in the IDF. But this was not always the case. In December 2001, he was injured in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem while celebrating his 16th birthday. Erin suffered from a head injury, causing memory loss and many cognitive disabilities. Two years later Erin successfully completed his matriculation exams, thanks to Tlalim teachers, who had worked to prepare him using special education methods.

Tlalim, the only school in Israel for bedridden children ages 3-18, serves approximately 2,000 children each year. A not-for-profit association, Tlalim was established in 1990 to help sick pupils through home schooling. Educational support is rendered free of charge to pupils who are absent from school for more than three weeks due to physical or emotional illness. Tlalim's support includes eTlalim, a unique on-line virtual school. eTlalim connects the sick children throughout Israel.

Your contribution will provide a bedridden child the following home schooling:
$500 - one child with home tutoring twice a week for 3 months.
$1,500 - one child with home tutoring twice a week for a school year.
$3,000 - one child with full connection to eTlalim, including computer on loan and teaching twice a week at home for a school year.
$10,000 - development of a new eTlalim course and increased support to serve sick children.
