Government officials pledge support, participation during day United Jewish Appeal (UJA) of MetroWest NJ’s annual Super Sunday, a full-day event of fundraising and community activities, will be held on December 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., on the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus, Whippany. Super Sunday will devote the day to a community-wide fundraising phonathon. Accompanying activities will be a blood drive from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., kosher food collection, babysitting (available from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and an Israeli marketplace for Hanukkah shopping. JCC MetroWest and The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life will conduct activities for children, including a Music and Movement program at 2 p.m. The day will end with an ice cream sundae celebration. As part of the nearly 800 community volunteers who will be manning the phones, a number of government officials have pledged their support of Super Sunday and plan to attend the festivities. Officials scheduled to attend include N.J. Senator Thomas H. Kean, Jr.; N.J. Assemblymen Jon Bramnick, Tom Giblin, John McKeon, and Gary Schaer; Morris County Freeholder Jack Schrier; and Essex County Freeholder Vice President Patricia Sebold. Also, at approximately noon, residents on JESPY House of South Orange will be presented with the UJA Volunteer of the Year award for their continued support of Super Sunday. JESPY House is a beneficiary agency of UJC MetroWest. Chairs for Super Sunday 2007 are Stephen Kepniss of Short Hills, Daniel Ramer of Maplewood, and Susan Weinstock of Montville.
