This panel presentation is presented as a supplement to the New Jersey Historical Society’s groundbreaking exhibition, What's Going On? Newark and the Legacy of the Sixties. The exhibition examines the social forces that led to the outbreak of urban rebellion in 1967 and the lasting impact on the people, landscape, institutions, and economy of the region. Through photographs, artifacts, period media, and oral histories, discover the diverse stories of how and why Newark – and the nation – changed in the 1960s and the struggle for renewal and rebirth since that time.
