This innovative children's series designed for young viewers and families won a Parents' Choice Award and was nominated for a national Cable ACE Award. Each episode stars the intrepid time-travelling Jewish explorer, Mitzvah Mouse, as well as his lovable puppet cohorts David and Rachel Blastowitz. Together the characters learn lessons about values, holidays, and their own cultural identities.

The characters:

Mitzvah Mouse is the intrepid Jewish explorer who was born "in Abraham's tent" and knows all of Jewish history. Mitzvah has a special relationship with each of Judaism's major modern and historical figures. Today, he lives in a secret hideaway in the Alef Bet Bookstore where his primary mission is to teach Jewish children about their identity.

David Blastowitz is a mischievous, friendly, young boy whose energy and enthusiasm always seem to get him into trouble. Not coincidentally, in his travels with Mitzvah Mouse, David usually learns an important lesson about himself, his family, and his heritage.

Rachel Blastowitz is incredibly friendly, intelligent, and responsible. But that's exactly what a big sister is supposed to be...right? Rachel and her younger brother David are often whisked away by Mitzvah Mouse on tremendous time-travelling journeys.

Abe Boomstein is the Grandfather of David and Rachel as well as the owner and operator of Alef Bet Books where the show takes place. As a child he knew Mitzvah Mouse, but now as an adult isn't sure that this explorer actually exists. Abe is a first generation, immigrant American.

Deena Blastowitz is the caring Mother of David and Rachel. Together with her father, Abe Boomstein, she helps run Alef Bet Books.

Jonah Blastowitz is the Father of David and Rachel. He is a typical American Jewish person who does not outwardly show his Judaism, but on the inside feels very strongly connected to his culture, heritage, and people.
