Gaza fuel distributors stage strike to protest reduced supplies from Israel

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - Gaza's fuel distributors say they are on strike to protest Israel's reduced fuel supplies to their territory.

Israel reduced fuel shipments to Gaza several months ago to pressure Palestinian militants to halt rocket fire on Israeli border towns. The restrictions have disrupted car traffic throughout Gaza. The territory relies on Israel for fuel, but only receives around 6 percent of its daily needs.

The Gas Station Owners' Association in Gaza on Monday stopped distributing all fuel. The association says it hopes this will pressure Israel to supply more fuel.
