Israeli media: army thwarts infiltration attempt
from Gaza

JERUSALEM - Israeli radio are reporting that Israel has prevented Palestinian militants from infiltrating a crossing with the Gaza Strip.

The reports say that Israeli troops shot at the three gunmen as they approached the Kerem Shalom crossing. They say one militant was killed, one was wounded and one fled the area.

Israel's army did not immediately comment on Thursday's attempted attack. Tensions have been high since three Israeli soldiers were killed in an attack along the border on Wednesday. In retaliatory strikes, Israeli forces killed more than a dozen Palestinians, at least five of them children and one a TV cameraman.
