JERUSALEM - Israeli police say they will interrogate Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Friday in regards to suspicions he was involved in corruption.
Olmert is suspected of illicitly receiving up to $500,000 from a Jewish American fundraiser. The case threatens to disrupt Olmert's efforts to work out a final peace deal with the Palestinians by the end of the year.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld has said Tuesday that the questioning on Friday will be the second with Olmert. The prime minister has not been charged yet in the case. Police suspect Olmert could have been involved in bribe-taking, money-laundering or campaign funding.
The American donor, Morris Talansky, is slated to give a deposition to the court by the end of the month.
