JERUSALEM - Justice Ministry officials say Ariel Sharon's son will be released from prison early for good behavior.
Omri Sharon, son of Israel's ex-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, was sentenced to a seven-month prison term in late February. He was convicted of campaign funding violations.
Tal Vider, a Justice Ministry spokesman, said Sharon asked Sunday to have his sentence reduced on grounds of good behavior.
In keeping with customary practice, the sentence was cut by one-third. He'll now be released on June 25 instead of late September.
Prosecutors said Omri Sharon illictly took $1.3 million (euro890,000) to fund his father's campaign to head the right-wing Likud Party in 1999. That sum violated funding ceilings.
