Global News Midler, Seinfeld, Biden headline Jewish museum opening Philadelphia (JTA) — Vice President Joe Biden, Jerry Seinfeld and Bette Midler headlined a festive opening weekend for the new National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. The gala events marked the culmination of a decade-long, $150 million effort to move from a small space adjoining a synagogue to an impressive structure situated in the center of historic Philadelphia, near the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Constitution Center, the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent reported. more
Leaders of the MetroWest Jewish community are urging the Morristown-based Honeywell International to cease any further business dealings with Iran. In a Nov. 12 letter to Honeywell CEO David Cote, four local leaders in the campaign to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons call on the corporation to provide them with “full and transparent description of all of Honeywell’s business interests in Iran.” more Local News courtesy of |

| Saba Avram I was recently stuck in Europe under a volcano cloud with millions of people and my own older parents. The closed sky caught us in Hungary with all its painful Jewish history, a week after their national elections in which a far right party won much power, a few days after Yom Hashoa (Holocaust remembrance day) and symbolically during Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli memorial and independence days). more |

Haifa Hoops for Kids is a joint initiative of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ and Maccabi Haifa Heat, an Israeli Professional Basketball Club, that offers companies, individuals, and organizations the chance to send underprivileged youth in Haifa and the Greater Haifa area to experience a Night of Fun at a Haifa Heat basketball game.
