Mitzvot of MetroWest
On Sunday, I had the privilege of speaking to hundreds of students who are a year away from their B'nai Mitzvah at "Mitzvot of MetroWest," sponsored by our Jewish educational agency, The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life. At the Alex Aidekman Family Jewish Community Campus, over two dozen projects and philanthropies "hawked" service projects suitable for B'nai Mitzvah. Upon reflection, I have attended too many B'nai Mitzvah ceremonies at which the Bar or Bat Mitzvah takes on projects that have no connection to Jewish community or peoplehood. >>MORE>>

It was clear, however, that the power of the historical moment was stronger than the monotonous legitimate concerns that we have about the new administration. The media was doing its job. Images of Obama and Martin Luther King, Jr. were flickering on our television screens all week long. Amazingly, the “Gaza War” suddenly seemed almost like an historical anecdote, although we have just now begun to measure its consequences. >>MORE>>
