We all remember, with great pride, that Jessie Owens won four gold medals in track at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, defying the myth of Aryan supremacy. An ugly footnote to this story is the fact that no Jewish track star was allowed to compete for fear of offending Hitler, the host of the Olympics. Over 50 years later, another Jewish athlete, 48th ranked women's tennis player Shahar Peer, was not allowed to compete this week in the Barclay's Dubai Tennis Championship because of her Israeli citizenship. >>MORE>>
