Located in Jerusalem, the Israel office is the long arm and "on the ground" eyes in Israel, promoting connections, encounters, and partnerships between the MetroWest Jewish community and communities in Israel. more

Birthright Israel
Taglit-Birthright Israel offers Jewish young adults 18-26 a free, 10-day educational trip to Israel. A bold risk that is now transforming a generation through this once-in-a-lifetime journey, Taglit-Birthright Israel is a three-way partnership between local Jewish federations, private philanthropists, and the State of Israel. more

Overseas Partner Communities
Israel
Rishon LeZion
South of Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion is the fourth largest city in Israel, with a population of about 250,000. Project Renewal, which focused on the disadvantaged neighborhood of Ramat Eliahu, now called Neve Eliyahu, was the beginning of UJC MetroWest's partnership with the city in 1978. more
Ra'anana
An economically secure community of some 70,000 people, Ra'anana is northeast of Tel Aviv. Its relationship with UJC MetroWest began in the late 1980s, when the two communities initiated and implemented the concept of direct absorption – bringing immigrants directly to housing in the community, rather than an absorption center, with full social services from the municipality. The successful program has been copied throughout Israel. more
Ofakim/Merchavim
Ofakim is a development city of 28,000 in the northern Negev; about mid-way between Beersheva and Gaza. The Merchavim Regional Council consists of 14 small communities (moshavim) in the surrounding area, with a population of 9,000. more
Gush Etzion
Composed of 15 communities with a population of more than
9,000, Gush Etzion is the region south of Jerusalem and Bethlehem and north of Hebron, adjacent to the city of Efrat with a rich, Jewish and Zionist history. more
Kibbutz Erez
A kibbutz with about 500 residents, Erez is located on the
Gaza border in the northern Negev, facing the Gaza Strip border. Since the beginning of the second intifada, the region has become a target to many infiltration attempts by terrorists and hundreds of kassam rocket attacks. more
Horfesh
A Druze village in the northern Galillee, MetroWest became involved in Horfesh as a result of the Second Lebanon War in 2006. MetroWest recognized the significant contribution that the Druze population makes to the State of Israel through its loyal participation in civil affairs and the Israel Defense Forces. Druze villages in the north were subjected to bombardment during the war. more
Ukraine
Cherkassy In central Ukraine, about midway between Kiev and Odessa, Cherkassy is both a city and a county. The city has an overall population of 350,000, and 1.5 million more live in the county. more
