Continuing Education Credits for Professional Advisor Session


New York CLE Credits are available through Lowenstein Sandler. All program topics will be covered during the Professional Advisor Session, which is appropriate for newly admitted and experienced attorneys. Any attorney attending the entire Professional Advisor session (5:00 - 6:30 p.m.) will be entitled to 1.5 New York CLE credits in Areas of Professional Practice. Continuing Education Credits have been approved for Certified Financial Planners for 1.5 hours and for Certified Public Accountants (NJ only) for 1.5 hours of credit in Taxation. Progam Topics


Our three speakers will cover the same topics in both sessions, although the Professional Advisor Session will be more technical in nature and is approved for Continuing Education Credits.

  • What, if any, legislative changes are on the horizon, near and far, with regard to the estate tax?  What are the implications of these changes (or lack thereof)?
  • What planning opportunities exist in such an uncertain environment?  Where does charitable giving fit into those opportunities (e.g., charitable gift annuities (CGAs), converting private foundations into donor advised funds, accelerating deductions)?
  • Why are Charitable Lead Trusts (CLTs) attractive now?   
  • 2009 offers individuals the opportunity to convert traditional IRAs to Roth IRAs.  What issues should IRA owners and advisors be aware of when considering a possible conversion?
