Maxine Fischer Scholarship for Young Women Application Deadline is February 23, 2010

Women's Philanthropy of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ, in conjunction with the Maxine Fischer Memorial Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of MetroWest, has established the Maxine Fischer Scholarship in order to help perpetuate the memory and values of the late Maxine Fischer, whose interest was in Jewish education for women. I'm Sad — My Fears Were Confirmed

I was somewhat vaguely aware that there was a “freedom flotilla” of six ships headed toward the Gaza coast from Turkey and that this flotilla was planning on attempting to run the Israeli blockade in order to deliver humanitarian aid. The blockade of Gaza is intended to prevent weapons from entering; humanitarian aid enters Gaza every day from Israel and in this instance, the aid could have been delivered either by transferring it to Israeli naval ships or by coming into Ashdod. I didn’t have a good feeling about what was going to happen.  more

Borinsky ProgramThe Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program is an annual program designed to provide Jewish adults, under age 45, the tools and experiences needed to become successful leaders of the Jewish community. The program provides participants with an overview of the resources and opportunities offered in the MetroWest Jewish community. This year we are offering two versions of the program.

Rita Waldor receives the 2008 Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award
An inveterate fundraiser on behalf of UJC who is legendary in the MetroWest Jewish community, Rita Waldor is the recipient of the 2008 Kipnis-Wilson/Friedland Award, The national award, presented by the UJC umbrella organization, recognizes women who set a high standard for philanthropy through volunteerism and financial commitment.  more
