 ‘Inside Israeli Basketball’ Episode 2 Debuts December 13-17 on Versus, YES Network, SUN Sports and JLTV

 

A Day in the Life of First-ever Native American player in Israel Ben Strong, Tamir Goodman’s “Jewish Jordan” adjustment to Retirement in Featured Segments


AVENTURA, Florida –
In the second episode of “Inside Israeli Basketball”, Maccabi Haifa center Ben Strong, the first-ever Native American to play professional basketball in Israel, and Jewish American guard Todd Golden, who made “Aliyah” -- to become an Israeli citizen, provide a behind-the-scenes look at what life is like for pro-basketball players in Haifa, Israel.  The 30-minute magazine show is aired monthly in the US on Comcast Versus, the YES Network, SUN Sports, and Jewish Life Television.  

The second episode airs on Sunday, December 13 at 4 pm ET (re-airs at 10 pm ET) on YES; Tuesday, December 15 at 6:30 pm ET on SUN Sports; Thursday, December 17 on Versus at 4:00 pm ET; and Thursday, December 17 at 7:30 pm ET on JLTV, with repeat episodes throughout the month.   

“Inside Israeli Basketball” focuses on the Maccabi Haifa basketball team (5-2), which currently is ranked 36th in Europe, according to the “Top 100” ranking on Eurobasket.com.   The second episode will include a segment on former Maccabi Haifa player Tamir Goodman, the “Jewish Jordan”, who recently retired from professional basketball and is now heavily involved with assisting underprivileged children in Israel through the “Haifa Hoops for Kids”* charity program.  Additional featured segments include an inside look at how the Israeli Basketball Super League features some of the best competition in the world, as well as how Maccabi Haifa’s American players are adjusting to Israel.  

Maccabi Haifa, owned by Jeffrey Rosen of Aventura, FL, (through his Triangle Financial Services firm), was the surprise runner-up in the Israeli Basketball Super League last season.  This year’s team features a number of US players, including Davon Jefferson of Southern California; Todd Golden, a former St. Mary’s College of California product; Jason Rich, a Florida State University standout; Jesse Pellot-Rosa of Virginia Commonwealth; and former San Diego High phenom Jeremy Tyler.  

The program is hosted by Israeli actress and model Becky Griffin, and produced on location by Joseph Marc Sports (which produces shows including Yankees Magazine, Nets Magazine, and Inside Rutgers Football).  Comcast Versus is home to the NHL, the YES Network is home of the New York Yankees and New Jersey Nets, SUN Sports is home of the Miami Heat and Jewish Life Television (JLTV) is seen nationally via DirecTV and on select Time Warner Cable systems including New York and Los Angeles.

*“Haifa Hoops for Kids” is a joint initiative between Maccabi Haifa and United Jewish Communities of MetroWest, NJ that distributes Maccabi Haifa VIP tickets to underprivileged and special children in Israel, who otherwise could not afford to attend a professional basketball game.
