Cry for Me – Haiti

Within twenty-four hours of news arriving of the disastrous earthquake in Haiti, UJC MetroWest set up a Haiti Relief Emergency Mailbox. The proceeds will be directed to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, which is our overseas relief agency. As of January 19, we have raised more than $46,000. In addition, our Board of Trustees approved a $10,000 allocation towards this effort.  >>MORE>>

Donate now.JDC's goal during the first stage of a disaster of this magnitude is to provide emergency relief efforts that meet the immediate needs of survivors. JDC is currently working in two main areas: providing medical supplies and equipment, and providing food.

JDC is supporting the provisi

Ready-to-eat food and clean water are among the most pressing needs at this stage. JDC is supporting a soup kitchen operated by EcoWorks International, a not-for-profit NGO working with poor communities around the world to help break the cycle of poverty.

We will be living with the tragedy of the Haitian earthquake for a very long time — and, I hope, with the possibility of helping this poorest nation rebuild and emerge stronger, eventually.  >>MORE>>
