Global News Midler, Seinfeld, Biden headline Jewish museum opening Philadelphia (JTA) — Vice President Joe Biden, Jerry Seinfeld and Bette Midler headlined a festive opening weekend for the new National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia. The gala events marked the culmination of a decade-long, $150 million effort to move from a small space adjoining a synagogue to an impressive structure situated in the center of historic Philadelphia, near the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the Constitution Center, the Philadelphia Jewish Exponent reported. more
Leaders of the MetroWest Jewish community are urging the Morristown-based Honeywell International to cease any further business dealings with Iran. In a Nov. 12 letter to Honeywell CEO David Cote, four local leaders in the campaign to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons call on the corporation to provide them with “full and transparent description of all of Honeywell’s business interests in Iran.” more Local News courtesy of |

The eternal flame that has accompanied our people for so many years is made up of many tiny sparks. In order to produce enough sparks and keep the fire lit, we have to create ongoing meaningful Jewish opportunities. The Israel experience, and especially the encounter with Jewish peers, is one of the most powerful change agents. The Diller Teen Fellows is a program that includes all the necessary ingredients to make sure that the sparks it creates will be forceful and last for the long run. more |

| My Mother-in-Law — My Inspiration as a Jewish Woman Leader In the last few months, I’ve written a little bit about my mother-in-law, Ethel Rosenthal, and I’m sad to report that I must now say my mother-in-law of blessed memory. I wrote about her last in the context of Shavuot and the story of Ruth and Naomi. I was so lucky to have Ethel as my mother-in-law — she was an inspiration to me as a Jewish woman leader, and as a Jewish woman, period. more |

| UJA Makes Connections Like No Other Most people do not like asking others for money. It doesn't matter the purpose or cause, it simply feels invasive.
