Every Woman Counts: UJA Women's Department

Philanthropy has long provided women with the means to leave an imprint on legislation and institutions, on family and community. Today, women are shaping the future direction of the political, social, and economic arenas, and philanthropy itself.

Traditionally, women's philanthropic activity and social status was tied to familial wealth. Yet women have always been involved in a variety of movements designed to effect fundamental changes in the community.

The Women's Department of United Jewish Communities of MetroWest NJ is committed to being an outlet for all Jewish women in the community. No matter your age, wisdom, residence or social status, the Women's Department is the one place where you can make it happen.

Be Motivated. Be Innovative. Be Inspired.

Year-round programming provides the perfect outlet for all your interest and desires – whether you yearn to further your Jewish knowledge, widen your circle of friends and associates in the community, make an impact in a new "family." There is no better time or place to be someone than right now with Women's Department.

Women's Department is also your opportunity to be recognized as a philanthropic leader in the community. Through the Women's Campaign, which accounts for nearly 25 percent of the annual UJA Campaign, women make a gift in their own name, solidifying their place and importance in the community. Various recognition categories afford women additional giving and networking opportunities:

  • Lion of Judah
  • Pomegranate
  • Vanguard
  • Young Women's Circle
  • Business & Professional Women

Women's Department works with other community organizations to further the empowerment of women and provide support and education opportunities. We are a founding partner of the Rachel Coalition, MetroWest's response to domestic violence, and the CHAI forums, a health education series presented with the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey and the National Council of Jewish Women, Essex County Section. Women's Department helps you be in touch with contemporary women's issues.
